Yorkshire's romantic whatever the weather!

Most loved-up brides and grooms automatically dream of sun-drenched isles in the Seychelles or the Maldives for their perfect honeymoon… but now a holiday park in Yorkshire’s own Wharfedale is giving more exotic destinations a proper run for their money in the romantic stakes, winning a brace of prestigious awards in the process!
Faweather Grange, at High Eldwick near Ilkley, has pulled off a real coup by overcoming some very stiff competition to win Caravan Holiday Park/Holiday Village of the Year for the second year running at the White Rose Awards. Handed out by Yorkshire’s official tourism agency, Welcome to Yorkshire, these reward the cream of the county’s hospitality industry. The judges recognised that Faweather Grange’suniquely romantic ambience has played a major part in its growing reputation as the ultimate Yorkshire hideaway for stylish couples.
Andrew Skinn, who co-owns Faweather Grangewith his wife Debbie, says “We’re generally more used to seeing red roses here, but are very happy to accept a white one on this occasion! The White Rose Awards are so prestigious that we never expected to win one two years running, so for us this is beyond amazing – a real honour. I think the secret of our success is that we have real passion, belief and vision, and are always thinking of how we can go the extra mile for our guests”.
Established in 1993, Faweather Grangeconsists of eleven wooden lodges, built in a traditional style that Andrew had much admired on business trips to Scandinavia. However, he and Debbie were determined that rustic need not necessarily mean basic, and came up with the idea of equipping their lodges in a five-star contemporary style. Their dream became a reality, and in fact Faweather Grangewas the first lodge development in the UK to install outdoor hot tubs – ideal for soaking up the stunning views!
Special occasion romantic breaks have become something of a speciality at Faweather Grangeover the years; with their network of prestigious connections, Andrew and Debbie are able to offer a concierge-style service that allows almost any luxury you can think of to be bolted on to the special packages they offer. Whether they opt for a helicopter ride to dinner, a shopping trip in a chauffeured Bentley or a windswept walk amongst the dramatic local scenery, guests are sure to have a holiday they’ll remember forever. The focus is very much on providing a unique experience with excellent yet unobtrusive service.
Faweather Grangeis now a firm favourite with honeymooners, with no less than four just-married couples in residence at the time of winning this year’s award! “Traditionally, people would jet off to somewhere with guaranteed sunshine like the Caribbean for their honeymoon” says Debbie, “but at Faweather Grangewe can offer a holiday without the jetlag that’s just as romantic and luxurious – in a Wuthering Heights, ‘wild and windy moors’ kind of fashion!”.
